Fair Winds and Following Seas, Oscar R. Granger
Celebrating Oz
Oscar R. Granger (P’Oz) passed away peacefully on October 13th, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, bonus dad, grandpa, and friend.
To honor his memory and celebrate a life well lived, we invite you to a series of commemorative events in San Diego, California, a city he loved.
Event Details
April 14th, 2025: A memorial service will be held aboard the USS Midway, followed by guided tours of the ship led by USS Midway veterans. (We extend our gratitude to Marty Fitzgerald for organizing this special tribute.)
April 15th, 2025: A private gathering for immediate family to commit Oscar's ashes to the sea.
Accommodations
For those traveling from afar, a discounted room block has been secured at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside. When making your reservation, be sure to mention "Oscar Granger" to receive the special rate (details on room type, exact cost, and booking deadlines will be posted soon).
This website will be the central hub for all information related to the events. We'll update it regularly with more details about the commemoration, ash scattering ceremony, and any other gatherings that emerge.
In the meantime, raise a glass to Oscar. May his memory forever inspire us to navigate life with courage, kindness, and a healthy dose road rage. :)
P.S. If you have any photos or stories of Oscar that you'd like to share, please send them our way. We'd love to include them on the website or in a commemorative display.
